So many people consider massage to be just a “luxury” or “pampering” when in fact massage can help to solve a multitude of problems.

The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and wellbeing.  The benefits are both physical and psychological.

Touch is the core ingredient of massage therapy and also combines science and art.  Touch also conveys a sense of caring, an important component in the healing relationship.

When muscles are overworked, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle causing soreness, stiffness and even muscle spasm.  Massage  helps the body rid itself of toxins, improves circulation, boosts immune function and reduces muscular tension  and helps the body to release Endorphins, this is the body's own repairing agents.    An important part of any stress program is regular massage  It has been said that approximately 75% of all illnesses are stress related.

Relaxation Massage

Massage has become a necessity rather than a luxury thanks to our increasingly demanding, complex and stressful lives.

At UrTime we create a peaceful ambience with the optional use of essential oils and soothing background music.  Treatments vary from a one hour full body massage to a half-hour back, neck and shoulder massage.  Whatever the time frame, clients are encouraged to nominate those muscle groups that require particular attention. Our therapists will also make suggestions.

We strongly recommend one-hour relaxation sessions, which can produce a profound feeling of wellbeing. After a relaxation massage, you may feel sleepy and light headed. We suggest you drink plenty of water after your treatment and refrain from doing anything too energetic.

Aromatherapy

Is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile liquid plant materials, known as essential oils (EOs), and other aromatic compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person's mood or health. Essential oils differ in chemical composition from other herbal products because the distillation process only recovers the lighter phytomolecules. For this reason essential oils are rich in monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, as well as other VOC substances (esters, aromatic compounds, non-terpene hydrocarbons, some organic sulfides etc.).

Combining the therapeutic properties of essential oils with specific Massage techniques to promote health and well-being. It is a holistic treatment of caring for the body with pleasant smelling botanical oils.
Aromatherapy is a generic term that refers to any of the various traditions that make use of essential oils sometimes in combination with other alternative medical practices and spiritual beliefs. Popular use of these products include massaging products, medicine, or any topical application that incorporates the use of essential oils to their products.

An essential oil is a concentrated, hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. They are also known as volatile or ethereal oils, or simply as the "oil of" the plant material from which they were extracted, such as oil of clove. An oil is "essential" in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant. Essential oils do not as a group need to have any specific chemical properties in common, beyond conveying characteristic fragrances.

Essential oils are generally extracted by distillation. Other processes include expression, or solvent extraction. They are used in perfumes, cosmetics and bath products, for flavoring food and drink, and for scenting incense and household cleaning products.

Various essential oils have been used medicinally at different periods in history. Medical applications proposed by those who sell medicinal oils range from skin treatments to remedies for cancer, and are often based on historical use of these oils for these purposes. Such claims are now subject to regulation in most countries, and have grown correspondingly more vague, to stay within these regulations.

Oils are volatilized or diluted in a carrier oil and used in massage, diffused in the air by a nebulizer or by heating over a candle flame, or burned as incense, for example.

Swiss Reflexology

Reflexology (zone therapy) is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.

Many civilizations have practiced reflexology. Evidence of this has been documented on four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. The most common theory is that the earliest form of reflexology originated in China, as much as 5000 years ago.

The early Taoists are credited with originating many Chinese health practises. The Cherokee tribes of North America to this day practise a form of reflexology that they continue to pass from generation to generation. Reflexology travelled across India, Japan, Asia, and China. Traditional East Asian foot reflexology is called Zoku Shin Do. This is the foot portion of the Japanese massage technique.

The roots of Zoku Shin Do go back to ancient China and are over 5,000 years old. Many changes took place in zone therapy, or reflexology, as new knowledge was added. In China, reflexology reached a new level. The practice of acupressure using the fingers turned into the practice of acupuncture using needles. The study of the reflex points still existed, but the knowledge was linked or added to and taken in a new direction—the direction of meridians. The Chinese concept of meridian therapy is an important part of the foundation of reflexology
